The Wonderful World of Darcey

So I suppose it is past time to be writing something here. What shall I say? I must briefly mention the tragic conclusion to the drama in the fish tank. Our two favorite rivals, Antonio and Charlie, are no longer with us. First they lost their will to eat, allowing the tank to become polluted with wasted food, and then they lost their will to live. Was it Lucy - did she finally work up the nerve to shun them both, driving them both to fatal despair? But no, Lucy does not seem happy with her present lonely situation. Or was it something more sinister - Antonio's employer, perhaps secretly poisoning them with his human mono infection? (A note of caution: If he approaches you about taking over Antonio's position, I would advise avoiding him and his poisoned head fluids. Student Health Services can't help you now; they have abandoned you just when the one thing they know could have been useful.)

In other news, I'm starting to do things at work. Soon I'll be meeting my customers. I was originally assigned to a primary customer in Northern California, but recently I was moved - now don't get too jealous, not everyone can be as lucky as me - to one in Gary, Indiana. But that's really not a bad thing, because the one in California may have been big and complicated and scary, and I am small and ignorant and easily frightened. My ignorance will also be assisting the health care profession in Dallas and Chicago. But first is our big users' meeting here in Madison - the one time a year when we are made to dress like adults. I have spent several days in a makeshift sweatshop preparing for this big event - laboring in a weird basement room with holes in the floor stuffing papers into binders and binders into bags. So many papers. So many bags.

And now, before you go, please vote! That's right - your vote counts!* The public wants to know: do you support or oppose the installation of landscaped traffic islands along East Pass between Stonecreek Drive and Country Grove Drive as a "traffic calming measure"? But don't stop with voting - if you are able, provide a further public service by explaining to poor, ignorant me what effect landscaped islands have on calming traffic. Does it soothe drivers into a sleepy state so that they decide to go home and rest rather than clutter the street with their cars? Does it make them want to slow down and smell the roses? Vote, and explain, today.

*By count, I mean that your vote may or may not influence the vote that I may or may not submit, and my vote apparently does count, because I live here.
