The Wonderful World of Darcey

I am at the mall in Rochester. There is a 2 hr wait at PF Changs, which is why we are here. And I mean Rochester, not the mall. I'm typing on joe's Christmas gift from me, while we are waiting on his birthday present. Who got the better gift (see mine below)t? Well, right now I have both of them.

So guess what I got for Christmas? I got something shiny and expensive to put on my finger! I keep thinking it's scary to be holding something so expensive on one little finger, but then I look at it and I'm distracted by shiny and I don't think anymore.
So this is what happened. Last week, I had to work for 2 days in between our trips to Joe's parents and my parents. Joe automatically gets the whole week off. But I'm not jealous about that, because shiny. So anyway, I came home from work Wednesday and walked up the stairs from the garage to find a big stop sign on the door telling me I was at a DoD checkpoint and should knock for assistance. Not wanting to interfere with national security, I complied. Then I was blindfolded and led up the stairs. At this point, some people might have been a little nervous about where the government was leading them. But luckily I wasn't a terrorist, and the person leading me turned out to be Joe and he took off the blindfold. From there, there were arrows on the ground. Still not sure what the government might do to me, I decided I should continue to obey, and I followed the arrows. They led me to a dress and a computer where the keyboard told me to press a button. (This was supposed to play music.) Then the arrows took me back down the stairs, only this time I could see. And it turns out the kitchen table was in the living room, with a brand new tablecloth and glasses and something that smelled good. I now understood the purpose of the blindfold. Of course the government would want to keep this a secret - it's a crazy mixed up world indeed when the kitchen moves to the living room. Then I got to eat a nice fancy dinner cooked for me by a boy, and it was very sweet and very elaborate. And that was the end of Wednesday.
Perhaps you thought the story of Wednesday would end differently. Perhaps Joe thought this too. But the store of shiny finger decorations thought differently. They had had a busy holiday weekend and now they were taking the day off.
So then it was Thursday. Thursday I was supposed to sneak out of work early, run to the house, throw Joe and some suitcases into the car, and then run to the airport. But when I got home Thursday, Joe was not waiting outside to be thrown into the car. Instead, he made me come inside. And there were more arrows! But there were no blindfolds this time, because I already knew where the table had taken up residence. So I followed the arrows and they led me back to the computer. Only this time, when I pulled out the keyboard, the computer didn't tell me to press any buttons. And I was confused. What was I supposed to do? But it turns out I wasn't supposed to do anything. There was a box already there waiting for me. And inside was shiny. And now I have shiny. And a boy. And all is happy.
And did I mention shiny?
